Congress Forms ‘EAGLE’ To Monitor ECI’s Election Conduct
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress party has set up an Empowered Action Group of Leaders and Experts (EAGLE) to oversee the conduct of free and fair elections by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The group, formed with immediate effect, consists of senior party leaders, including Ajay Maken, Digvijaya Singh, Abhishek Singhvi, Praveen Chakravarty, Pawan Khera, Gurdeep Singh Sappal, Nitin Raut, and Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy.
The committee’s first task will be to examine allegations of voter list manipulation in Maharashtra and submit a detailed report to the party leadership at the earliest. Additionally, EAGLE will analyse past elections in other states and proactively monitor upcoming polls to ensure electoral integrity.
The move comes amid growing concerns regarding electoral fairness and transparency. By establishing EAGLE, the party aims to strengthen its oversight on ECI’s functioning and election processes across the country.
Delhi will vote on February 5, and the counting will be held on February 8.
