Akshay Kanti Bam, the Congress candidate from Indore Lok Sabha constituency is one of the well-educated candidates of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh. Also an award-winning entrepreneur, he runs several educational institutions including a law school. He completed his B.com (Hons) from Sydenham College, Mumbai, LL.B (Hons) and MBA (Public Administration) from Qj Devi Ahilya University, Indore.
Akshay Bam established the Indore Institute of Law in 2003 at the age of 23 intending to provide quality legal education and job-oriented education. After this, he started Indore Nursing College in 2006 and Idyllic Institute of Management in 2010. He has also pioneered several other initiatives and social services.
Born to Kantilal Bam, a famous social worker, the background Akshay growing up actively participating in social work influenced him since his childhood. The successful entrepreneur and social worker also provides free computer training to poor students, free drinking water distribution through water tankers, and free eye surgery to poor people through health camps among others. He was also the recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2017.
However, the Congress has expressed its confidence in the 45-year-old”s foray into Lok Sabha by giving his debut ticket from Indore.
Indore has been represented by the BJP since 1989 and the party’s veteran leader Sumitra Mahajan has been the MP from 1989 to 2019. In 2019, BJP fielded Shankar Lalwani who won the seat with a majority of 5,47,754 votes. Notably, the saffron party has decided to field the incumbent MP against the Congress candidate Akshay Bam.
It is analysed that both the candidates in the seat are stronger, with the potential of giving tough competition to each other
