Greater Kailash Assembly Election Result: BJP's Shikha Roy Leads

BJP’s Shikha Roy wins with 3,188 votes in Greater Kailash Assembly Constituency. AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Congress’ Garvit Singhvi is trailing behind. Bharadwaj has been winning the seat since 2013.

The Greater Kailash Assembly constituency is part of the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. The major contestants of the constituency were AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj, BJP’s Shikha Rai, and Congress’ Garvit Singhvi.

During the 2020 assembly election, AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj won the seat with the margin of 16,809 votes. He won the seat by defeating Shikha Roy of BJP, who came in second with 43,563 votes, and Congress’ Sukhbir Singh Panwar, who won 3,339 votes.

During the 2015 assembly election, Bharadwaj won the seat with the margin of 14,583 votes. He defeated BJP’s Rakesh Kumar Gullaiya, who won 43,006 votes. Congress’ Sharmistha Mukherjee won 6,102 seats.

Bharadwaj has been winning the seat as AAP candidate ever since the party started to contest form 2013. The party was formed in 2012. Since 2013, it has been an AAP forte, and BJP won the seat in 2008, when Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra won the seat.

The Assembly election in Delhi was held on February 5, with over 15 million voters casting their ballots across 70 constituencies. A total of 699 candidates, including 96 women, contested the elections.

The triangular contest in the national capital created palpable tension. While AAP and Congress are part of INDIA alliance on national level, the two parties are contesting against each other in Delhi. If BJP won the capital, it would be a huge comeback after 27 years.
