Madhya Pradesh Election Result: Prahlad Singh Says He Already Knew BJP Will Win With "Huge Mandate"

Madhya Pradesh is edging with more than 120 seats. Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel responds to the official trend of the 2023 assembly election result coming from Madhya Pradesh. Mr. Patel is a BJP candidate from Narsinghpur of Madhya Pradesh. Speaking to ANI, he said he always knew that BJP will yield power in Madhya Pradesh with “huge mandate”.

He said, “I already said that we would perform better in the elections in five states than last time. The trends that are coming in all five states are proving my point”. He further added that, he will discuss with Kamal Nath, the Congress leader, “who is behind in vote count”.

Mr Patel is the incumbent Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti of India in the second Narendra Modi cabinet and is one among the three cabinet ministers fielded by the BJP for the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Elections. BJP had been in power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003 but lost to the Congress in 2018. But in a critical move the Congress government led by Kamal Nath lost power after senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia rebelled and joined the opposition party with over 20 MLAs.

The BJP expects an easy win looking back to the state’s previous history. The sitting Chief Minister is there in the office since 2005, except a two-year break in 2018 to 2020. He is the longest-serving CM of Madhya Pradesh (4 times) and also the national Vice-President of BJP – a steadfast labourer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
