In light of electoral defeats in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has urged the Indian National Congress to examine and analyze the reasons for the failure. Omar Abdullah also dubbed the reports that Congress may question the failure of the Supreme Court as irrelevant. Instead, Congress should understand the ground realities, he advised.
Abdullah also consoled Congress, saying one can”t only be satisfied with the elections that he or she wins. Speaking to the media, Abdullah said, “Elections are like that; you win some and you lose some. You can”t only be satisfied with the elections that you win. You must also be ready to accept defeat.
“Congress has lost in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, and instead of going to the Supreme Court, they need to analyze the reasons because some people saw the writing on the wall earlier,” he said, pointing out the need for political foresight in gauging the sentiments of the electorate.
Abdullah also argued that Congress failed to comprehend a prediction made by a member of Parliament two months ago about the imminent failure in Chhattisgarh.
“I have an MP—a BJP friend—who, two months ago, told me that the BJP is winning in Chhattisgarh. I had laughed… When he knew it, why did the Congress not know?” questioned Abdullah.
The leader of the National Conference advised the Congress to learn from the past and focus on the future to get rid of such tumors. “Forget the Supreme Court; prepare for the Parliament Elections,” he urged. The BJP triumphed in the recently held assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh with an overwhelming majority.
The victory is considered a spoilsport for Congress in the 2024 general election, which is advantageous to the BJP.
