Mira Barthakur Goswami is contesting the Lok Sabha election 2024 on the congress ticket in the Guwahati constituency, which is considered to be the gateway to northeast India, with 1,922,270 eligible voters.

Mira Barthakur Goswami is contesting the Lok Sabha election 2024 on the congress ticket in the Guwahati constituency, which is considered to be the gateway to northeast India, with 1,922,270 eligible voters. In this Lok Sabha election, Mira Barthakur Goswami is up against Bijuli Kalita Medhi of the BJP. 

Mira Borthakur Goswami, a prominent member of the Indian National Congress (INC), holds the esteemed position of President of the Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress and is also the founder of Charchita Foundation. She completed her BA from Nowgong College in the year 1994.

Interestingly, she was previously affiliated with the BJP, serving as their spokesperson. However, due to anti-party activities, she was expelled from the party in 2018. Later joining the congress, Mira contested on a Congress ticket from the Guwahati West constituency, in the Assam assembly elections of 2021.

Bijuli Kalita Medhi of the BJP replaced the Queen Oja of the constituency. In the 2019 election, Queen Oja of BJP was elected won the election as she secured 57.20% of the votes, which was a total of 1,008,936 defeating Bobeta Sharma of Congress who managed to get 663,330. Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, which consist of several assembly segments including Dudhnai, Chamaria, Boko–Chaygaon, Palasbari, Dispur, New Guwahati, Guwahati Central, Dimoria and Jalakburi.
