CEC Row: Delhi Police Detain Protesters At Jantar Mantar; Congress Leaders Detained In Assam
New Delhi: Delhi police have detained several protesters including All India Students’ Association president Neha and RJD MP Manoj Jha while they were protesting at Jantar Mantar on Friday, September 25. Police allegedly manhandled several students protesters , and among those detained included popular YouTuber and The Wire’s special correspondent Mohammad Irfan. Protest erupted in Delhi as police moved to heavily barricade the site ahead of protest declared by Cockroach Janata Party demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
Protest have already erupted across the country after the explosive revelation by an Indian Express report regarding internal dispute over the functioning of the election commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

On Friday, Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and several other party leaders were detained by police in Guwahati when they took out a protest march demanding the removal CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
