Naseeruddin Shah, the veteran actor, and director, who is known for his strong opinions and boldness to put them forward recently shared his views on the election results and what they portend further in his interview with Wire.

In the interview with Karan Thapar, Naseeruddin Shah shed light on the Muslim community to focus on education, enlightening, and modern ideas instead of madrassas, hijab, or the length of Sania Mirza’s skirt.

In his view on the recent election result, the veteran director shared that his first reaction was to gloat and he also stated that it’s the time for the country to introspect and to set things right. The actor also highlighted that there is always an undercurrent hostility between religions even before the formation of the Modi government and now it’s our responsibility to disperse the hatred, which have taken over the country.

Naseeruddin Shah in his view on the new government added that sharing power will be a bitter pill for the Prime Minister to swallow, but it depends upon the influence of their allies. And the PM should decide that his goal is to serve the country or to rule the country.

The veteran director also commented that Modi has been talking less and less sense over the years, and he also added that if Modi believes that he has been sent by God or is God “That should scare the daylights out of everybody.” He also compared the actions of Modi to the story of an owl in the dark.

Answered the question If Modi will find it easy or difficult to transform from the old Modi to the new Modi Shah suggested that It could be a difficult task for the Prime Minister, where he also added “He is not that good an actor, his measured smile and crocodile tears have never convinced me, he can’t put a convincing act of becoming the new Modi”

Naseeruddin is well-known in Indian parallel cinema and has appeared in several international films. He has received various accolades throughout his career, including three National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, and the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.
