PM Modi’s Speech: Opposition On Modi’s ‘Dream Remark’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha today. The speech lasted for more than one and a half hours. Reacting to the President’s address, CPI(M) leader John Brittas said that every citizen of the country has the right to dream, similarly, PM Narendra Modi can also dream to win 400-500 seats in the Lok Sabha election. “But the reality is different as the people of the country will decide their course of action.”

While speaking to news agency PTI, Congress MP Manickam Tagore said that dreams of the BJP have always failed citing the example of 2004. He asserted that this time it will be “India Shining Part 2”, signalling to the failed reelection campaign by incumbent Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and BJP then.

He further added, “Will he not take oath if they do not reach 370? Can he promise that if the number goes below than the one he announced, he will not take oath?…He can make these kinds of election speeches in Parliament but people of India have decided that they have the right. In 2004 too, “India Shining” was like this and the people of India know that this kind of arrogance will be defeated.”

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi highlighted that PM Modi in his speech completely avoided the issues of inflation, unemployment, and Manipur.

Shashi Tharoor, Congress MP said that Narendra Modi is simply repeating one speech again and again. He then adds that he needs fresh energy. “I don”t understand if he is tired or something has happened. We respect the PM”s oratory talent but today it was below form, I think. We were saying that we should not have high expectations because he is giving the same speech…Nehru ji died 60 years back, but he speaks about him. What has happened to PM Modi? I think he needs fresh energy,” he said.

Appreciating the remarks of Modi, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy says, “This was truly a memorable and historic speech which was straight from the heart. People of the country have already decided that the next government will be of the BJP.”

BJP MP and Union Minister SP Singh Baghel said that Modi will be remembered when India celebrates its 100 years of independence as being a developed nation.
