R K Puram Assembly Election Result:
In R K Puram Assembly Constituency, BJP’s Anil Kumar Sharma wins with the margin of 14,453 votes. AAP’s Pramila Tokas came second, and Congress’ Vishesh Kumar is at third position.
The R K Puram Assembly Constituency is the part of the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. The major contestants were Aam Admi Party’s Pramila Tokas, BJP’s Anil Kumar Sharma, and Congress’ Vishesh Tokas. Since 2015, Anil Kumar Sharma and Pramila Tokas has been locking horns vying for the seat.
In the 2020 Assembly election, AAP’s Tokas won the seat by defeating BJP’s Sharma with the margin of 10,369 seats. Congress’ Priyanka Singh won came third with 3,237 votes. In 2015 assembly election, Tokas won the seat with the margin of 19,068 votes. BJPs Sharma came second with 35,577 votes, and Congress’ Liladhar Bhatt came third with 4,042 seats.
The last time BJP won the seat was in 2013, when Anil Kumar Sharma defeated AAP’s Shazia Ilmi with a margin of mere 326 votes. From 1998 to 2013, Congress won the seat.
The Assembly election in Delhi was held on February 5, with over 15 million voters casting their ballots across 70 constituencies. A total of 699 candidates, including 96 women, contested the elections.
The triangular contest in the national capital created palpable tension. While AAP and Congress are part of INDIA alliance on national level, the two parties are contesting against each other in Delhi. If BJP won the capital, it would be a huge comeback after 27 years.
