Telangana Election Results: Ponnam Prabhakar Wins Husnabad Assembly

Ponnam Prabhakar from Congress emerged victorious in the Telangana Assembly election with an impressive margin of 100,955 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Vodithela Sathish Kumar of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), who secured 81,611 votes.

The election to the Telangana State Assembly was held on November 30, in 119 constituencies.

In the 2023 Assembly elections, Husnabad, a town in Telangana”s Siddipet district, saw an astounding 78.75 per cent voter turnout. Formerly a part of the Karimnagar district, the assembly segment is an important part to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency. Predominantly an agricultural economy, Husnabad has witnessed a surge in political activity in the past few years.

The victory for Ponnam Prabhakar marks a significant shift from the 2018 elections when Satish Kumar Voditela of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now BRS) secured the seat with 117,083 Votes, defeating Chadha Venkat Reddy of the Communist Party Of India (CPI) who secured 46,553 Votes with a margin of 70,530 votes.

Husnabad”s electoral past is indicative of a changing environment. With 117,083 votes and a commanding lead of 63 per cent of the vote, Satish Kumar Voditela of TRS (now BRS) emerged winner in 2018. Chadha Venkat Reddy of the CPI finished second place with 46,553 votes.
Vodithela Sathish Kumar of TRS (now BRS) who won 96,517 votes in the 2014 Assembly elections, secured 34,269 vote lead over Congress”s Aligireddy Praveen Reddy, who gathered 62,248 votes.

The recent victory of Ponnam Prabhakar not only opens a new chapter in Husnabad”s political history, but also it emphasises the dynamic and constantly shifting Telangana”s electoral landscape.
