Udumbanchola, Idukki: The Udumbanchola Assembly constituency witnessed massive voter turnout. By 7 p.m., 79.51% of people had voted, which is much higher than the state average of about 77.82%.

As the day went on, the constituency saw that more and more people voted. By 9 a.m., 16.91% of people had voted. By 11 a.m., that number had risen to 34.64%. By 1 p.m., it had crossed 50%, and by 3 p.m., it had reached 63.6%. By 5 p.m., the turnout had risen to 77%, showing that voters were consistently getting out to vote across the constituency.

Udumbanchola is in the Idukki district and has 149,111 voters, with a few more women than men. The constituency has a plantation economy and high-range settlements, and in the past, voters have been very active in exercising their mandate.

This year’s turnout is much higher than in past elections, when it was 73.33% in 2021. This shows that more people in the constituency are interested in voting.

Udumbanchola has been a stronghold for the Left Democratic Front (LDF). In 2021, CPI(M) leader M. M. Mani won by more than 38,000 votes, which was a big win

in the history of the constituency. The Left’s strong organisational presence in the area is still a big part of getting people to vote.

When the results are announced, local factors and vote consolidation are likely to have an effect on the final outcome, just like in past elections.
