Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia received show cause notices from their former employers for their photo with Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
“What they were thinking when sending the show cause notices? Why do they want to to penalise them again. People are watching. People will give the answer for this,” Congress general secretary in charge of organisation KC Venugopal said in the press conference that was held for welcoming the wrestlers to the party in Delhi.

“Don’t do politics,” he said and further stated that all the formalities will be taken care of to relieve Phogat and Punia.
Vinesh received the show cause notice following her resignation from railway post on Friday. “This is very surprising. Vinesh got a ‘show cause’ notice from the Railway authorities on WhatsApp after she resigned from her post. What was the reason behind this? This happened after yesterday a photo of Vinesh and Bajrang came out standing with the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi which was amplified by newspapers and television channels. Is it a crime to stand with the LoP?” while speaking to the media, KC Venugopal asked.
Ahead of announcing her decision to join Congress, Vinesh had shared the screenshot of her resignation on social media. She was employed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with Northern Railways. she wrote, “At this point in my life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent authorities of the Indian Railways. I will always be grateful to the Indian Railway family for this opportunity given to me by the Railways in the service of the nation,”
