Ravindra Jadeja, one of India’s most dynamic all-rounders in modern cricket, has become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rivaba Jadeja, the wife of the Indian cricketer and a BJP MLA from the Jamnagar North constituency, shared a screenshot of the cricketer joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party. Ravindra Jadeja joined the BJP as the ruling party launched its membership campaign on September 2. The party has since claimed to have gained over one crore members, as announced on its X handle.

Ravindra Jadeja, who made his international debut for Team India in 2009, has been a known supporter of PM Modi and BJP, and was seen praising the saffron party in many occasions. The cricketer was also seen doing a road show to campaign for his wife Rivaba Jadeja in 2022 when she contested from the Jamnagar north assembly seat in the Gujarat state polls.

Jadeja is celebrated for his ability to contribute in all three aspects of the game—batting, bowling, and fielding. He’s also played a pivotal role in India’s victories in ODIs and T20s, thanks to his knack for breaking partnerships and keeping the runs in check.

Rivaba joined the saffron party in 2019 and successfully contested the Jamnagar North seat in the 2022 assembly elections by defeating AAP candidate Karshanbhai Karmur.

The 35-year-old recently announced his retirement from T20Is following India’s historic T20 World Cup 2024 triumph against South Africa in June.

Jadeja had an illustrious career, representing India in 72 Tests and 197 One Day Internationals. Being an all-rounder, he has taken 294 and 220 wickets respectively in these formats, while also scoring 6,000 runs as a left-hand batter.

He played a crucial role in India’s victory at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy in England. Jadeja in the tournament emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 12 wickets.
