Telangana Ready For Assembly Polls On Thursday

Voting for the Telangana Assembly polls begain on Thursday (November 30) morning. The 119 assembly seats in the state witness a three-cornered contest between ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Congress and BJP. Over 3 crore 26 lakh voters will decide the destiny of 2,290 candidates.

Polling teams carrying EVMs have reached their respective polling stations and 35,655 polling stations have been set up across the state. The polling will begin at 7AM and closes at 5PM. Meanwhile, in 13 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas, polling will end at 4PM.

The high-octane election campaign ended at 5 pm on Tuesday, and extensive security arrangements have been arranged for the polling.

While BRS is looking for a third term, they have to face fierce battle with rival Congress and BJP. In the election BRS is put up candidates in all 119 seats,  whereas Congress is fighting in 118 seats and gave one seat to its ally CPI. In an alliance, BJP and Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sen Party (JPS) are contesting in 111 and 8 seats respectively. Besides, Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM, a friendly ally to BRS ,is contesting in nine assembly segments in the Hyderabad city.

The prominent names in the fray include, BRS President and Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), his son and Industries minister KT Rama Rao (KTR), State Congress President A Revanth Reddy, and former BRS Minister and now BJP candidate Eatala Rajender, and BJP Lok Sabha member Bandi Sanjay Kumar among many others.

Telangana assembly elections for the first time facilitated home voting facility to the persons with disabilities and voters above 80 years.

The results will declare on December 3 along with four other states.
