Legendary music composer AR Rahman recorded a 30-minute music performance to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential election. Rahman will be the first international artist from South Asia to endorse the Vice President.
“With this performance, Rahman has added his voice to a chorus of leaders and artists who are standing up for progress and representation in America,” said Shekar Narasimhan, chairman of the Asian-American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Victory Fund Chairperson Victory Fund.

This move is expected to enhance Harris’s visibility in the US election as she aims to become the first woman to serve as the US President.
Mr. Narasimhan further added that this would be more than a musical event as “its call to action for our communities to engage and vote for the future we want to see”.
Rahman’s endorsement indicates that Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters are important in this election cycle. Moreover, it also indicates the overall growing support for the Harris-Walz ticket.
The exclusive performance is set to be broadcast on AAPI Victory Fund’s YouTube but also across major South Asian networks, including AVS and TV Asia. This move is to galvanize support for Kamala Harris among South Asian voters worldwide.
The music video will be broadcasted on October 13 at 8 pm ET.
