In a major development in the Hindi film industry, scion of pharma giant Serum Institute of India Adar Poonawalla bought 50 percent stakes in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Reports have also said the deal is worth a whopping Rs 1000 crores. Adar Poonawalla has beaten Reliance and Saregama in the race to acquire a major stake in Karan Johar‘s production house.
As per the the official announcement by the production house, Poonawalla’s Serene Entertainment bought 50 percent stake at Dharma. Karan Johar will retain the remaining 50 percent ownership.

Through this partnership, Karan will reprise his role as the Executive Chairman, who will look over the company’s creative vision while Adar Poonawalla will serve as the CEO and will be taking care of the strategic direction and operational excellence of the production house.
As per the official statement, the CEO of Dharma said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to partner with one of the most iconic production houses in our nation, along with my friend Karan Johar. We hope to build and grow Dharma and scale even greater heights in the years to come.”
