The recent Mega Pan Indian Producers’ roundtable by Galatta Plus brought out interesting insights from pan Indian producers, but the interesting discussion between Telugu producer Naga Vamsi and Boney Kapoor did not seem sit well with other filmmakers in the industry. After facing severe backlash, Vamsi has now apologised for his words and has clarified his stance.
In an interview with Telugu36, Vamsi apologised and said. “If they really believe I disrespected Boney, I am sorry.” He added that disrespecting anyone, especially Bollywood, was never his intention. “As a south Indian, I was simply proud of the work that has been done post-COVID,” he added.

Vamsi also explained that his original comments stemmed from the impressive success of South Indian films in recent years, which he is particularly proud of. He cited examples of SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Baahubali, Prashanth Neel’s KGF, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, and Atlee’s Jawan. “Because South Indians made all these films, as a South Indian talking to someone from the North, I just pointed out how well we performed.”
He also confirmed that he and Boney were cordial after the interview. “Now, records have been generated by Pushpa 2 that no Hindi film has done to date; of course, it will be something I am proud of. It’s not arrogance,” he shared.
This clarification from the producer comes after being called out by prominent names like Hansal Mehta and Sanjay Gupta.
Mehta on his X handle said, “His latest hit as a producer Lucky Bhaskar has borrowed liberally from the Scam series. Everybody wins. Nobody is bigger than the other. That narrative is destructive. Arrogance is even worse.”
Since this person Mr Naga Vamsi was being so arrogant and now that I know who he is : His latest hit as a producer Lucky Bhaskar has borrowed liberally from the Scam series. Reason I brought this up is that I feel happy that stories travel and a film in another language suceeds… https://t.co/R4oC0kNHKc

At the Galatta Plus roundtable, while speaking to Boney Kapoor, Vamsi commented, “We, South Indians, have changed the way you (Bollywood) look at cinema. Because, you guys (Bollywood), were stuck in making films for Bandra and Juhu. You witnessed a change with Baahubali, RRR, Animal and Jawan,” but Boney disagreed.” Boney Kapoor, however, had dismissed his remarks and refused to accept them.
The roundtable also marked the presence of other producers from South India, such as Archaana Kalpathi, Siddharth, Don Palathara, and Chandini S. Sasha.
