Amidst high anticipation, the acclaimed filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni’s Vidaamuyarchi reached theatres yesterday. Hours after the release, the Ajith Kumar starrer reportedly surfaced on multiple piracy websites, including Tamilrockerz, Movierulz, Filmyzila, and other various Telegram groups.

Even though the makers expressed their strong condemnation against piracy, the leak raised concerns over Vidaamuyarchi’s performance at the box office. The makers had earlier issued a strong appeal to the fans, urging them to report illegal links and unauthorised social media accounts promoting the pirated version.

Lyca Productions also requested fans to help them discourage movie piracy by tagging blockxtechs on social media handles like X, Instagram, and Facebook. To report such activities, the production house also issued a dedicated email ID, blockxteck.com.

Announcing this, Lyca Productions wrote, “Every effort counts!  Say NO to piracy and watch VIDAAMUYARCHI only in theaters!”

Vidaamuyarchi, the highly anticipated film, opened with decent numbers at the box office. As per Sacnilk.com, the film earned Rs 22 crore nett in India on its opening day.

The film had decent occupancy in theaters, with 58.81 percent in the morning, 60.27 percent in the afternoon, and 54.79 percent in evening shows. Trichy and Pondicherry witnessed higher occupancy than Chennai at 92.00 percent and 91.67 percent, respectively, while Chennai had 88.33 percent.

Meanwhile, Ajith’s previous release Thunivu, minted Rs 24.4 crore net in India on its release day. However, it is believed that Vidaamuyarchi will witness an increase in footfall over the weekend. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, with music composed by Anirudh and produced by Subaskaran under Lyca Productions, Vidaamuyarchi promises to be an edge-of-the-seat action thriller.
