Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, made her Instagram comeback weeks after the India’s Got Latent row. Taking to her social media handle on Tuesday, Apoorva shared a barrage of threats, ranging from rape to acid attack, that she received over the last few weeks.
With a trigger warning in the beginning, Apoorva posted 19 pictures with hundreds of screenshots of comments she received from social media platforms including Instagram, Reddit, and YouTube.
The explicit comments include gang rape threats against her with a series of slurs thrown at her. Several comments threatened her with acid attacks. Many called her a “characterless” woman who deserved to be subjected to brutal acts of violence.
Apoorva captioned the post, “and that’s not even 1%.”

The comment section flooded with support for Apoorva while others questioned where justice really stood. “This image is worth a thousand FIRs. But they’ll file the one that isn’t worth filing,” remarked writer Devaiah Bopanna.
“So where’s Cyber security and police now?” asked one netizen.
Some others urged her to file an FIR against some of the people who made the vulgar comments. “Please file FIRs against some of these. Set an example. Let their lives be ruined. They need to understand the consequences of threatening someone sitting in their dungeon,” said one person.
Apoorva also posted another photo with a simple yet powerful statement, “Don’t take away the story from the storyteller”

Amid the India’s Got Latent controversy, Apoorva took a break from social media. Despite her movie Nadaaniyan, starring Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan, releasing, neither did Apoorva promote the film, nor did she attend its premiere.

In February this year, a complaint was filed against influencer and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and Apoorva over a series of alleged controversial and offensive remarks made on Samay’s YouTube show where another influencer called Ashish Chanchalani was also a judge but seemed to have gone under the radar during the whole controversy.
Both Apoorva and Ranveer had recorded their statements before the NCW Chairperson and legal team.
