Today, the world celebrates Chandrika Tandon’s name for her remarkable achievement of winning the prestigious award. But the internet is also curious to know more about this Grammy winner. And, here is the fascinating journey of the singer.
Apart from being a vocalist, Chandrika Tandon is also a renowned entrepreneur. She is a global business leader and the elder sister of former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.
Tandon, who finished her higher education at Madras Christian College, desired to go to law school, following the footsteps of her grandfather, who was then a judge in Chennai. But later, she turned her interest to business and got enrolled in IIM Ahmedabad.
Her music journey started when she created a studio recording of her father-in-law’s favorite chants as a gift. This inspired her to create her first full-length studio album, SoulCall, in 2009, a continuous recitation of the mantra’s eight phonemes: Om Namo Narayanaya.
Tandon’s journey to the Grammys is not new. Previously, in 2011, she was nominated for her creation, Soul Call, in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category. Her dedication to music, alongside her accomplishments in business, showcases her versatile talent and passion for cultural expression.

In 2017, Tandon released her fourth studio album, Shivoham: The Quest, which merged Sanskrit prayer with verses in English. In 2023, Tandon released her fifth studio album titled Ammu’s Treasures, a three-volume collection of songs inspired by her grandchildren in different genres and languages.
And her latest album, Triveni, won the prestigious award. Triveni—which means confluence in Sanskrit. This creation of the composer is a testament to the trio’s vision of creating music that transcends borders. The album bridges cultural gaps through a harmonious blend of Tandon’s soulful vocals, Kellerman’s evocative flute, and Matsumoto’s rich cello melodies.
