Film Director-Writer Manish Gupta Exposes Allegations Made By Driver As Extortion Racket

Film director and writer Manish Gupta has rejected allegations made by his former driver, Rajibul Lashkar, who claimed Gupta stabbed him over a payment dispute. Gupta vehemently refuted the claim, calling the FIR “completely false,” and an extortion plot. Lashkar, who was Gupta’s driver for three years, had recently filed a police complaint alleging the director stabbed him with a kitchen knife, and that his salary was never paid on time.

The Versova police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. Gupta is cooperating with the police and has submitted his response, alleging that the FIR by his driver was to blackmail him for money and damage his reputation.

In his statement, Gupta shows CCTV footage screenshots, noting that the complainant, Rabijul, is holding his right hand over his stomach. “But just zoom into his stomach, and you will see that there is no BLOOD! If he was stabbed with a knife, how can there be no blood? Because he was lying,” Gupta pointed out.

He further mentioned that Rabijul was seen walking very casually and in a carefree manner, not at all like a person who had been stabbed in the stomach with a knife in the CCTV footage.

Stating that the first statement regarding the salary in the driver’s FIR is “totally false,” Gupta asked to monitor his bank statements attached, showing that he has always paid the driver’s salary on time for the past three years.

“To the contrary, I have paid him advances which amount to much more than his salary. His statement starting with a blatant lie is evidence of his malafide intentions,” Gupta said, adding that the complainant had inflicted these injuries on himself, solely to create circumstances valid enough for filing an FIR.

Gupta further alleged that his driver has been coached, step by step, by third parties for whom filing false FIRs and extorting money is a regular business, stating that the motive for this false FIR was financial extortion.

“The complainant has a previous history of criminal proceedings against him. He had earlier committed some financial crimes against a bank. He was rounded up by the police and produced in a court of law,” Gupta explained, adding that Rabijul’s lawyer, who has coached him to file this false FIR, has multiple criminal cases filed against him, including a case of rape, and he has even been arrested twice.

“This man, Rabijul, who already has criminal proceedings pending against him, and whose own lawyer has criminal proceedings pending against him, what integrity would you expect from such a person?” Gupta added, stating that he has already submitted the above in my statement in a signed letter to the police.
