Just a month ahead of the release, actor Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming film, Kannappa, is facing a major setback. A hard disk containing valuable unreleased footage from the film has reportedly been stolen. A criminal case has been filed against two people for illegal possession of a hard drive.
The incident happened amid ongoing promotional activities for the film, which was scheduled to hit theatres on June 27. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film stars Prabhas, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal and also marks the Telugu debut of Akshay Kumar.

As per reports, a VFX vendor from Mumbai (Hive Studios) sent the hard drive to the office of the Twenty Four Frames Factory Private Limited in Filmnagar through DTDC courier. According to DTDC delivery records, the parcel reached the office on Sunday (May 25). A staff member, Raghu, handed the courier to a woman named Charitha for safekeeping. But Charitha has reportedly disappeared with the hard disk.
Reddy Vijaya Kumar, the Executive Producer of the Twenty Four Frames Factory, has filed a complaint with the Film Nagar Police alleging that Charitha disappeared with the intention of damaging the project.
The executive producer also said that the incident has caused a serious disruption to their film since the hard disk contains highly sensitive and confidential data. Kumar also highlighted that the company would suffer irreparable financial loss if the content were leaked or deleted. He requested the officials to recover it and hand it over to him immediately.
Amid the unfortunate incident, Vishnu visited a temple in Jharkhand’s Deoghar. In his X handle, he shared a picture collage from his temple visit with a caption that reads, “Har Har Mahadev.”

A similar incident took place during the filming process of Rajinikanth’s sports action drama, Laal Salaam, released in 2024. A hard drive containing vital footage was lost during the shooting and led to significant compromises in the production. Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the director of the film, later revealed that the hard drive contained footage of 21 days.
