Let it be fashion, acting, or entrepreneurship, Alia Bhatt has explored and etched her signature on it all. And now the adventurous journey of the Gangubai Kathiawadi actress’s next stop is as the avatar of writer with the launch of her debut children’s picture book.  The actress has now added another feather to her cap. With her latest Instagram post Alia introduced her new avatar as a writer with her book, The Adventures of Ed-a-Mamma: Ed Finds A Home out now. The actress launched her first children’s picture book on Sunday.

The mother of the little Raha, Alia seems to be on a mission to create the universe of ‘Ed-a-mamma’ to fill the childhood of little ones with her creative storytelling.

While presenting her creation, Alia penned a beautiful note coupled with her iconic cheerful smile. “Ed Finds a Home, is just the beginning of a new series of books from the universe of Ed-a-mamma. My childhood was full of storytelling and storytellers .. and one day I had a dream to bring out that child in me and put it into books for children. I am so grateful to my fellow storytellers, Vivek Kamath, Shabnam Minwalla and Tanvi Bhat, who with their wonderful ideas, inputs, and imagination helped bring our first book to life. Fingers crossed for this journey ahead. You can now find the books available online, and in major bookstores.”

The book follows the story of Ed, a little dog without a home but a heart full of hope. Alia is a little girl with a heart full of love and a secret superpower. When Ed meets Alia, she becomes his safe place. In turn, he inspires her to be the best version of herself. Ed Finds a Home celebrates ordinary kindnesses and the hero inside each one of us.

Described as a picture book on “caring for the planet and friendship with pets,” Ed Finds A Home has been published by Puffin Books India, the children’s imprint of Penguin Books India.

Meanwhile, Alia has crafted her journey with her excellent entrepreneurship talent such as finding the kids wear and maternity wear brand Ed-a-Mamma in 2020. Last year, Reliance Retail entered into a joint venture with a 51 percent stake in the apparel label. In 2021, the actor also launched the production banner Eternal Sunshine Productions.

On the work front, Alia has wrapped up filming Jigra, her upcoming movie. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed his next movie, Love and War, starring Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia. Bhansali and Alia will be reuniting following the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi. The movie is scheduled to release on Christmas Day of 2025.
