Meet The Hogwarts Staff Of HBO's New 'Harry Potter' Series(Image-Instagram/streamonmax)
A whole new generation is about to be re-introduced into the magical world of Harry Potter. HBO is planning to recreate the world of wizards with a web series with a fresh new cast. HBO has introduced the cast of the prominent Hogwarts staff including Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid, and others.
As per the official announcement, the cast now includes the following series regulars:
Albus Dumbledore
Prominent American actor John Lithgow, best known for his films like Conclave and The Crown, will be featuring in the role of Albus Dumbledore. The role of the wise wizard was first played by Richard Harris and then Michael Gambon in the movie series.
Minerva McGonagall
Tumbleweeds, The White Queen fame actress Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall. The films had the legendary Maggie Smith as the iconic professor of Transfiguration.
Severus Snape
Paapa Essiedu of I May Destroy You and Gangs of London will be featuring as Severus Snape. The late Alan Rickman played Snape in the films.
Rubeus Hagrid
Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz fame actor Nick Frost will bring life to the beloved character Rubeus Hagrid, once played by Robbie Coltrane in the film series.
Quirinus Quirrell
Luke Thallon of Leopoldstadt and Patriots has been cast as the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Quirinus Quirrell in the Harry Potter TV series, taking over from Ian Hart, who played the character in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Argus Filch
Paul Whitehouse of The Fast Show and Harry & Paul will appear in the role of Argus Filch, which was originally portrayed by actor David Bradley in the film series.

Welcoming the cast on board, HBO made an official Instagram post and wrote, “Wands at the ready, we welcome our staff to Hogwarts.”

As the makers have confirmed the key players of the magical series, fans are getting curious to know the cast of the main leads aka Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. HBO launched an open casting call for the main leads, which received over 30,000 submissions and the makers are yet to choose the trio.
The studio also described the show as a “faithful adaptation” of JK Rowling’s hit book series. The official description read, “Exploring every corner of the wizarding world, each season will bring Harry Potter and its incredible adventures to new and existing audiences.”
