HBO's ‘Harry Potter’ Series Casts New Trio: Meet The New Harry, Hermione And Ron
After auditioning over 30,000 actors for the lead roles, the upcoming Harry Potter series has finally found the iconic trio of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry, Arabella Stanton is Hermione, while Alastair Stout is Ron in the new HBO series. Filming is expected to begin this summer.

While McLaughlin stars in the comedy Grow alongside Nick Frost and Golda Rosheuvel, Stanton played Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End from 2023 to 2024. For Stout, the Harry Potter series will be his first major role.
Author JK Rowling also approved the casting. In a tweet she wrote, “All three are wonderful. I couldn’t be happier.”

The trio joins fellow cast members, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
The Harry Potter roles had launched Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint to worldwide fame in the early 2000s. If all goes well, the HBO series could do the same for the new set of actors as well.
