Back as the host of the sixteenth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Amitabh Bachchan has been hosting the quiz show since its inception in 2000 (apart from its third chapter in 2007 which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan). Are you curious to know the Big B’s fee per episode?

The latest season of the show ended on August 12. Reports revealed that the legendary actor is charging a massive fee of Rs 5 crore per episode, a significant increase from previous seasons. The actor’s KBC host journey kicked off with approximately Rs. 25 lakh per episode.

The popularity of the show has grown over the years due to the presence of Big B and so has the payment. According to reports, by the fourth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Bachchan’s remuneration had increased by Rs 50 lakh per episode, doubling from earlier rates.

By the sixth season, the actor was reportedly paid between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2 crore per episode. In the following eight, ninth, and tenth seasons, Bachchan was paid Rs 2 crore, 2.6 crore, and 3 crore, respectively.

Gradually, the bar raised to  Rs 3.5 crore per episode for seasons 11 to 13 and Rs 4 to 5 crore per episode by the fourteenth season. As per a Money Control report, the actor will be paid Rs 5 crore per episode in the latest season of KBC.

KBC is an Indian quiz game show, which was adapted from the British show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Apart from Bachchan, the show also hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. King Khan hosted only the third season of the show.

In terms of the work front, Bachchan was last seen as the mythical Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD. He will star alongside Rajinikanth, reuniting after 32 years, in Vettaiyan. Directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame, the film also features Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rana Daggupati and Dushara Vijayan, among others.
