With growing anticipation around Thalapathy Vijay’s 69th film, Jana Nayagan, speculation continues to swirl about whether this will be the superstar’s final film before he turns his focus entirely to politics.
The buzz intensified further after Vijay shared the third poster of the film on Sunday, June 23, showing him in a powerful pose, dressed in a police uniform, gripping a sword.

The image, which quickly went viral, showcases Vijay in a fierce and authoritative look, signalling that the film will likely see him in a dynamic, action-packed role.

This poster follows two earlier ones: the first showing him casually dressed, taking a selfie with fans, and the second featuring a more intense, symbolic aesthetic.
Although Vijay had previously announced his intention to step away from acting to pursue a full-time political career through his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), he has not yet officially confirmed whether Jana Nayagan will be his final film.
However, during a recent event in Ireland, actor Mamitha Baiju, who is part of the film’s cast, shared a personal interaction that added weight to the speculation. “He told me he hasn’t decided for sure if this will be his last film. It all depends on the election results,” she said, quoting his words.

She also described an emotional moment from the final day on set. “Vijay sir became very emotional after the shoot wrapped. He couldn’t even bring himself to take photos with the team. You could see how deeply attached he was to this film,” she added.
Directed by Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features a star-studded lineup including Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Bobby Deol as the antagonist. With music by Anirudh Ravichander and a whopping budget of ₹300 crore, the film aims to deliver both spectacle and substance.
Originally slated for release on October 17, 2025, the film’s release has now been postponed and will hit the theatres on January 9, 2026. Though it will be dubbed in Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. Distribution rights have already been sold for record amounts, reflecting the massive interest surrounding this project.
