
'Kalamkaval' Teaser Out: Mammootty’s Intense Look Hints At Dark Thriller
The teaser of the upcoming Malayalam crime action thriller Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty in the lead role, has been officially released on YouTube today.
Directed by debutant Jithin K. Jose and produced by Mammootty Kampany, the film promises to be a gritty, character-driven thriller with a strong star cast.
The 50-second teaser introduces Mammootty in a bold, rugged avatar. His character, Cyanide Mohan (Mohan Kumar), is shown with a thick moustache, calmly placing a cigarette between his lips.
The frame carries an unsettling silence, hinting at the dangerous layers of his character. The minimal dialogue and subdued background score add to the tension, suggesting a dark, psychological narrative.
Adding to the intrigue, the teaser also reveals glimpses of Vinayakan, bringing a fiery screen presence.
Kalamkaval features Mammootty, Meera Jasmine, and Vinayakan in lead roles, with Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, and Rajisha Vijayan in pivotal supporting parts.

Notably, Dulquer Salmaan reportedly appears as the younger version of Mammootty’s character in flashback sequences, adding an intergenerational dimension to the narrative.
The film marks the directorial debut of Jithin K. Jose, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar. Jithin previously contributed to the script of Kurup.
Behind the scenes, Faisal Ali handles cinematography, Mujeeb Majeed composes the music, and Praveen Prabhakar is the editor. The film is backed by Mammootty Kampany, the actor’s home banner, which has been producing diverse projects in recent years.

The film’s first look was unveiled on 16 February 2025, followed by a second look on 20 April 2025. Shooting was completed in November 2024, and the project is now in post-production. Kalamkaval is expected to release later in 2025, with distribution in Kerala handled by Wayfarer Films.
