Karan Johar takes moments to appreciate Ali Bhatt and Ranveer Singh for their ace performance in his movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. He expressed his “gratitude to the universe” which brought the “blessed artists” to play lead roles in his movie. Taking to his Instagram handle, the filmmaker penned down a lengthy note about Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani “before the year wraps”.

In his note, Karan Johar said that since Alia Bhatt’s debut movie, Student Of The Year, which was released in 2012, he did not worked with the Gangubai Kathiawadi star. But when he saw her in a rather “Flavian” look clad in Manish Malhotra, the celebrity designer, and styled by Mickey Contractor, the well-known make up artist, “I knew we had the Rani I had always envisaged”, said Karan Johar.

He remarked that he wasn’t prepared for the what brilliant actor Alia Bhatt has become. According to the filmmaker, he have “zero credit” in any of Alia’s achievements, and he said he will always be grateful to Imtiaz Ali “for taking her on a highway of life and moulding herinto the actor she finally became”. He said while Alia may have technically launched through Student Of The Year, “her true launch as an artist will always be highway…” (Highway was an Imtiaz Ali movie that was released in 2014. The movie featured Alia Bhatta and Randeep Hooda in lead roles). Karan Johar said he was blessed to have Alia Bhatt as “Rani Chatterjee and I do hope her character keeps resonating”.

He called Ranveer Singh, “The irreplaceable force of nature”. Karan Johar shed some light to how passionate Ranveer Singh was during the shooting of the movie, and how much he put in by spending months in west Delhi, learning his dialects and perfecting his character. The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil maker said he watched Ranveer Singh as a bystander, “a filmmaker in awe and was blown away by his process”. He said the perception of Ranveer Singh is “so different from his labour and passion as a true artist! You see designer clothes on magazine covers I see a hungry actor only seeking love and validation from his audiences”. He signed off his note with expressing his gratitude towards the actors.
