Karikku Enters Big Screen: Pooja Held Today For First Feature Film With Dr Ananthu Entertainments
The popular Malayalam digital collective Karikku has officially stepped into mainstream cinema, with the pooja ceremony of their debut feature film commencing today.
The project, directed by Karikku founder Nikhil Prasad, marks a major milestone for the team that has long dominated the digital entertainment space.
The film is being produced under the banner of Karikku Studios in association with Dr Ananthu Entertainments.
The pooja ceremony held today signalled the formal start of production, with filming set to take place largely in the scenic locations of Idukki, Kerala.

This untitled project will feature several familiar faces from the Karikku universe, including Anu K Aniyan, Arjun Rattan, Sabareesh Sajjin, Kiran Viyyath, Jeevan Stephen, Unni Mathews, Anand Mathews, Binoy John, and Krishna Chandran. Their inclusion is expected to bring the same charm and relatability that made Karikku a household name among Malayali audiences.
Founded in 2018, Karikku rose to fame with its hugely popular web series Thera Para and has since built a strong subscriber base nearing 10 million on YouTube. Known for its slice-of-life humour and relatable storytelling, the team now aims to translate that success onto the big screen.
Interestingly, this project is entirely different from the previously announced Karikku film based on Thera Para, which was shelved due to the pandemic. With this new venture, the team is looking to start fresh and establish itself in theatrical cinema.
While details about the film’s plot, genre, and extended technical crew are still under wraps, the buzz surrounding the project is already strong. The film is expected to hit theatres in 2027, making it one of the most anticipated Malayalam debuts in recent times.
