The much-anticipated sequel to blockbuster Lucifer, L2E – Empuraan helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran started filming today. The makers have shared the photos from the Pooja ceremony on social media.
The pooja was attended by Mohanlal, Mr Sukumaran, screenwriter Murali Gopi, producer Antony Perumbavoor, and cinematographer Sujith Vassudev, among many others. Producer and wife of Mr Sukumaran, Supriya Menon were also present at the function.

As announced earlier, the team kickstarted the shooting of the film on October 5.
Like in Lucifer, the script of the sequel is written by Mr Gopi. Through L2: Empuraan, Lyca Productions, a prominent production house in Tamil cinema, is making their debut to Malayalam movie industry. The sequel, thus, is jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
Mohanlal on his social media page on X, welcomed Lyca Productions and wrote “it”s an honour for the “L” team.

Released in 2019, Lucifer was Mr. Sukumaran’s debut directorial. In the political action thriller Mohanlal played as Stephen Nedumpally/Khureshi-Ab’raam. The ensemble cast of the movie included Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Fazil, Saniya Iyappan, Sai Kumar, John Vijay, Sachin Khedekar, Baiju Santhosh, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Suresh Chandra Menon, and Nyla Usha among many others.
The movie grossed over Rs. 200 crores from box office collection, and from selling satellite rights, digital streaming rights and TV rights in other languages. Lucifer earns the title of first Malayalam movie to collect Rs. 200 crores.
Besides Malayalam, L2 will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
