Bollywood star actress Shraddha Kapoor and comedian Kapil Sharma were added to the list of celebrities being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Mahadev betting app scam. Shraddha Kapoor received a fresh summons from ED on Thursday. The actress is likely to appear before the probe agency today, October 6.

Earlier, the ED had summoned other Bollywood celebrities including Ranbir Kapoor, Hina Khan, Huma Qureshi in to the same case. At the same time, actor Ranbir Kapoor asked more time from the probe agency to appear before it in person. ED claimed that Ranbir has performed various ads promoting the Mahdev app and collected a huge amount of money. Hindustan Times reported that almost 100 people, including celebrities, are under the probe agency”s scanner for their alleged involvement in the money-laundering case. It is important to note that no celebrities are named as accused in the case so far. But ED is all set to question them over the Mahadev app that allegedly gives a platform for illegal betting.

ED officials earlier said that the Mahadev Betting app allegedly operated the online book betting application to enroll new users, make user IDs and launder money through various benami bank accounts. The company was operating from Dubai. ED also claimed that the company promoters used four-five such apps and made around ₹ 200 crore per day. In connection with this case, ED conducted raids last month at almost 39 locations and seized assets worth ₹ 417 crore.
