Popular Malayalam actor and Mimicry Artist Kalabhavan Haneef passed away on Thursday, November 9. He was 63. Kalabhavan Haneef succumbed to respiratory- ailments. The actor, a native of Mattancherry in Kochi, had been undergoing treatment for a few days. Kalabhavan Haneef is survived by his wife Wahida and children Shahrukh Haneef and Sithara Haneef.

Haneef, who ventured into the mimicry field during his school days, was one of the main artists of the Kalabhavan troupe. Mr Haneef also followed the practice of Kalabhavan alumni by retaining the organization”s name in his screen name. Notably, Cochin Kalabhavan is the foundation stone for several superstars. Kalabhavan Haneef made his film debut with “Cheppukilukkanna Chanagathi”, released in 1991. Mr Haneef acted in more than one hundred and fifty films and was popular for his comic roles. Kalabhavan Haneef”s character, who appeared as a groom in the super hit movie “Ee Parakkum Thalika”, is still a fan favorite. The actor was last seen in the movie “Jaladhara Pump Set Since 1962”, released in August this year.

“Pandippada” (2005), “Thuruppugulan” (2006), “Ustad Hotel” (2012), and Chalakkudykkaran Changathy (2018) were some of the notable movies acted by Kalabhavan Haneef. The actor was well-known for his impeccable comic timing. He also played significant roles in Malayalam serials, including Minnukettu and Nadhaswaram.
