Mathira Khan, Kanwal Aftab, Minahil Malik, Imsha Rehman: Influencer ‘Video Leaks’ Now A Trend In Pakistan

The recent spate of alleged video leaks involving prominent Pakistani social media influencers has sparked outrage and debate over privacy violations and the dark side of digital fame. The November month alone has seen alleged MMS and intimate video leaks of popular TikTokers and social media influencers like Mathira Khan, Kanwal Aftab, Minahil Malik and Imsha Rehman. These alleged video leaks have cased all of them except Kanwal Aftab issuing statements or clarifications. Some have called the leaks as AI-generated videos.

Here’s a breakdown of the ongoing controversies:

Minahil Malik ‘Video Leak’?

Pakistani TikTok star Minahil Malik was in the spotlight again after a dance video set to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Mamushi” went viral. This was the beginning of a series of influencer video leaks in Pakistan. Critics, including Pakistani actress Mishi Khan, have suggested the influencer may have leaked the video herself for publicity.

This comes after a scandal in October when an alleged intimate video of Minahil Malik circulated online. Denying the video’s authenticity, Malik labelled it “fake” and lodged a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The investigation is ongoing. Malik, known for her bold presence, has faced similar incidents in the past, often finding support from her large TikTok following.

Imsha Rehman ‘Video Leak’?

In the same week of November, Lahore-based TikToker Imsha Rehman became the latest victim of privacy breaches after alleged explicit videos were leaked and widely shared on social platforms and WhatsApp. After the incident came to light and started trending, Imsha Rehman, who had large followers on social media, deactivated her Instagram and TikTok accounts, citing severe online trolling and harassment.

Fake accounts have since proliferated to share her videos, raising concerns about digital safety. Imsha Rehman has yet to confirm any legal action but continues to be a prominent name in Pakistan’s influencer circle albeit the furore caused by the controversy.

Mathira Khan ‘Video Leak’?

By November fourth week, Mathira Khan, another high-profile social media personality, found herself embroiled in a scandal after alleged explicit videos surfaced online. Mathira Khan was quick to respond, calling the video leaks as “AI-generated” and part of a cyberbullying campaign. She supported her claims with forensic reports but refrained from sharing them due to Instagram’s content policies, reports said.

Taking to X and Instagram, Mathira condemned the misuse of technology and the societal tendency to shame women. She urged the public to verify facts before spreading misinformation. Mathira credited her family and friends for helping her navigate the ordeal.

Kanwal Aftab Video leak?

Again, in November fourth week, TikTok influencer and entrepreneur Kanwal Aftab became the latest to face allegations of private video leaks. Aftab, who often shares family-centric posts with her husband and daughter, has not yet commented on the controversy. The authenticity of the leaked content remains unverified.

Aftab’s situation follows the now-familiar pattern of influencers being targeted, sparking discussions about the increasing invasion of privacy and the vulnerabilities of public figures in Pakistan.
