Netflix Unveils Bone-Chilling Trailer For ‘Baramulla’, A Supernatural Thriller Set In Kashmir
In the shadowed valley of Baramulla, a boy disappears during a magic show — and that single, frightening moment sets off a chain of events that will change lives and unsettle an entire town.
Netflix has released the trailer for Baramulla, a new supernatural thriller directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale (known for Article 370). The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios together with Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar of B62 Studios, and it marks another collaboration between these producers, the studios and Netflix after the box-office rom-com Dhoom Dhaam.

Baramulla arrives on Netflix on November 7, and the trailer makes clear that this is a slow-burn, atmospheric thriller rather than loud, jump-scare horror. At the centre of the story is DSP Ridwaan Shafi Sayyid, played by Manav Kaul, who is called to Baramulla to investigate a string of mysterious disappearances of children.
Ridwaan is a hard-edged police officer haunted by events from his past. He moves into the valley with his wife Gulnaar (portrayed by Bhasha Sumbli) and their two children, Noorie (played by Arista Mehta) and Ayaan (played by Rohaan Singh).
As the family settles in, ordinary household moments take on an eerie cast: the children sense an unseen presence, smell a dog that is not there, and hear footsteps in the night. Ridwaan initially dismisses these incidents, but each small clue pulls him closer to something that cannot be explained by routine investigation.

The film ties personal hauntings to wider tensions in the valley. As Ridwaan pursues the case, he must navigate local unrest, long-buried secrets and a social landscape that complicates every lead.
The trailer suggests the story moves from a surface-level mystery into deeper emotional and psychological terrain, where fear is not only about what lurks outside but also what lurks within people’s minds.
Director Aditya Suhas Jambhale described the trailer as a glimpse into this layered world. He said the film starts out as a mystery thriller but gradually becomes more emotional and psychological, exploring “fear — not just the kind that lurks in the dark, but the kind that lives within us.”
He credited the partnership with Netflix, Jio Studios and B62 Studios — and the creative backing of producers Aditya Dhar, Lokesh Dhar and Jyoti Deshpande — with giving him the freedom and resources to realise a large-scale, honest vision that the screenplay from Aditya Dhar, Aditya Suhas Jambhale and Monal Thaakar had imagined on paper.

Manav Kaul, who leads the cast, highlighted the mood the film aims for. He said the trailer captures the “mystique and stillness” of Baramulla, emphasising that this is not “loud horror” but a creeping, atmospheric kind where silence becomes heavy and unsettling.
Kaul — who has personal ties to the region, noting he is Kashmiri and from Baramulla — said the project felt like a calling: an opportunity to tell the valley’s stories with honesty and care. He added that working with Netflix, Jio Studios and B62 Studios helped bring that authentic world to the screen.
The cast includes, besides Kaul and Sumbli, Arista Mehta and Rohaan Singh in major child roles. The production credits also reveal a commitment to craft: Jambhale has assembled a team that aims to build a believable, textured environment for the story to unfold in.
Although the trailer focuses on mood rather than plot specifics, it makes clear that the valley itself functions almost as a character — a place where myths and memory breathe, and where the past refuses to stay buried.
Baramulla is positioned as more than a conventional genre picture. Its themes reach into questions of faith, community trauma and the difficulty of separating supernatural hints from human culpability.
The film’s marketing leans into this ambiguity, showing how an apparently simple disappearance can reveal a complex web of fear, history and social tension.
The film is produced and presented by notable industry names: Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar; production companies include Jio Studios and B62 Studios; and distribution and streaming are handled by Netflix.
The screenplay credits go to Aditya Dhar, Aditya Suhas Jambhale and Monal Thaakar, who also co-wrote the dialogues with Jambhale. The combination of an evocative setting, a restrained tone, and a lead actor with a personal connection to the story positions Baramulla as a title that aims to stay with viewers long after the credits roll.
Baramulla premieres on November 7, only on Netflix. If the trailer is any guide, audiences can expect an unnerving, thoughtful thriller rooted in place and memory — a film that uses the valley’s silence to turn ordinary fears into something far more unsettling.
