Three militants have been killed in an ongoing anti-militancy operation in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said. It has been reported that the militants were killed when the security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC).

“In a Joint Operation launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice and Intelligence agencies, an infiltration bid was foiled today in the morning hours along LoC in Uri Sector, Baramulla,” Army”s Chinar Corps wrote in a post on X.

They were killed in Hathlanga area of Uri, where militants were hiding. Militants tried to infiltrate to the Indian side who were engaged in by alert troops.

Two bodies of the militants have been recovered but the retrieval of the third body was interfered by firing by Pak post in vicinity, on LoC, tweeted on X.

The encounter was carried out by the Army, the Jammu and Kashmir police and the Intelligence agencies.

The operation is in progress, the army said.

“Encounter has started between terrorists and Army & Baramulla Police in forward area of Uri, Hathlanga in Baramulla district. Further details shall follow,” the J&K Police posted earlier in the morning regarding the search operation launched in the area.

This is the third encounter this week in Jammu and Kashmir after Rajgouri and Anantnag.

Two Army officers and a DSP were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, during a joint anti-insurgency operation.

The security forces suspect two to three militants were hiding in the Gadool hill in Anantnag, where the anti-militancy operation continues.

The infiltration bid and subsequent encounters happens when the operation moves forward in Anantnag district to neutralise the terrorists who has taken position in the forested areas.

According to Hindustan times, security forces have deployed drones to pinpoint the location of terrorists as the operation flush out the ultras entered the fourth day on Saturday.  This encounter come a day after a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module was unearthed in the Baramulla district with the arrest of two militant associates and recovery of arms and ammunition from them.
