Srinagar: Indian Army on Tuesday said that three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian. As per the reports, Shahid Kuttay, the chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy The Resistance Front (TRF), the terrorist group behind the Pahalgam attack killed in the encounter operation.

Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attacks, armed forces have been conducting combing operations in the forests of South Kashmir and Kishtwar. Today’s operation began early in the morning.

A top police officer said that a massive cordon and search operation was launched in the forests of Kellar after having specific input about the presence of some terrorists. ANI reports. The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon the forces who retaliated.

“On 13 May 2025, based on specific intelligence of a #RashtriyasRifles Unit, about presence of terrorists in general area Shoekal Keller, #Shopian, #IndianArmy launched a search and destroy Operation. During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce firefight ensued, which resulted in elimination of three hardcore terrorists. Operation is in progress,” army wrote in a X post.
