The airlines cited ‘safety concerns’ as the reason behind the sudden cancellation of their flights.

“In view of the latest developments and keeping your safety in mind, flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot are cancelled for Tuesday, 13th May. We are monitoring the situation and will keep you updated,” Air India posted on X.

On Monday, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) announced that civilian flight operation would resume at 32 airports which were temporarily shut last week until May 15.

Meanwhile, during the late hours on Monday, suspicious drone activity was observed along the international borders. However, the vigilant Indian Army said that the projectiles were being “engaged” and the situation was calm in border areas.

The drones were observed in Jammu’s Samba district as well as Punjab’s Jalandhar district. The activity was spotted just a few hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation.

The Army said, “A small number of suspected drones were observed near Samba in Jammu and Kashmir. Being engaged. There is no need to be alarmed.” The Army later said the situation was calm and under control in border areas.
