Islamabad, Pakistan: Social media influencer Sana Yousuf was shot dead at her residence in Islamabad‘s G-13 Sector on Monday, local media reports. The 17-year-old TikTok star’s death sparked widespread reaction on social media.
Sana was shot at close range by an unidentified assailant, who had reportedly come to visit her. She sustained two bullet injuries and died on the spot. Her body was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem examination. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The police investigation is underway, but no arrests have been made yet. They are also examining all potential motives, including honour killing, as this is not the first instance of a young female social media influencer being murdered in Pakistan.
A popular content creator from Upper Chitral, Sana has over 497k followers on Instagram. The daughter of a social activist, Sana’s content mostly focused on daily lifestyle, Chitral culture, and inspirational videos.
The condolences have been pouring for the influencer on social media. Hashtags like #Justice, #JusticeForSanaYousuf started trending on platforms like Instagram and X.

Earlier this year, as per the news reports, a teenage girl named Hira was shot dead by her father and maternal uncle in an alleged case of honour killing over her TikTok presence. The family had been living in the US for several years and had recently relocated to Pakistan.
