
Pakistanis Loot Chinese Call Center in Islamabad
A video goes viral on social media where people can be seen looting a Chinese Call Centre in Pakistan. The Pakistani youth allegedly plundered the call center and stole hundreds of Laptops and electronic components, as well as furniture and cutlery. The viral video is reportedly of a Chinese Call Centre in Islamabad.

Reportedly, this is another incident of looting a Chinese call center in Pakistan. The Chinese companies who came to Pakistan for investment faced the recent plunder. Notably, Chinese telecom and technology firms like Huawei and ZTE have invested in Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure.
Chinese investment in Pakistan is primarily driven by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major infrastructure and economic development project launched in 2015. It is a key part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Earlier, on September 21, 2024, an incident in Islamabad highlighted armed looters targeting a call center owned by a Chinese national, stealing 130 laptops and other items, as per the DAWN report.
The current reported event showes a part of broader economic challenges in Pakistan, including a balance of payments crisis. Pakistan is facing high unemployment rate with a 7% increament in recent years from earlier 1.5% over the past decade. IMF has also projected Pakistan’s unemployment rate to be at 7.5% in 2025.
Also, Pakistan’s inflation rate had remained high in the last few years and recently it fell to 1.5% in February 2025.
