Following the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, Nag Ashwin’s mythological sci-fi, Kalki 2898 AD, is setting its track for a Japanese release.
Kalki 2898 AD, the directorial project of Nag Ashwin, shattered the Indian box office records with Rs 1,100–1,200 crore collection during its theatrical run. And now it’s time for the blockbuster film to excite the Japanese audience. The film is set to hit theatres in the country on January 3, 2025.

The significant popularity of actor Prabhas in Japan opens this new initiative by the makers to launch the Japanese version of the film. Apart from this, the Russian version of the film was also released earlier this month. Moreover, raising the global traction towards the film, reports also claim that the Chinese version of the film is also under way.

The film is based in a dystopian world where the prophesied tenth avatar of Lord Vishnu is destined to confront Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), the supreme leader of the post apocalyptic world. Besides the lead cast of Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Anna Ben, Shobana, and more, the film also has a stellar lineup of special appearances from SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Deverakonda, and Dulquer Salmaan.
The Rebel Star has a significant fan base all over the world, especially in Japan. The Japanese fans of the actor celebrated the actor’s birthday last month in Tokyo by screening his action film Radhe Shyam in theatres.

Indian films are receiving great reception in Japan. Prior to Kalki 2898 AD, Shah Rukh Khan’s action thriller Jawan was also announced to be released in Japan. The high-octane action flick directed by Atlee will be hitting Japanese theatres on November 29. The Oscar-nominated comedy film of director Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies, also released in Japan on October 45.
