As the release of the biggest 50th milestone of actor-director Dhanush’s Raayan surfed the internet with its massive impact as a revenge saga, did it really make a breakthrough in the opening box office collection?
The revenge thriller, Dhanush’s second directorial venture, Raayan was released yesterday, July 26. A usual revenge story with a different approach filled with twists and turns, the movie won the hearts of the audience. And on its opening day, as per the reports the movie garnered ₹12 crores on Friday.

Bankrolled by Sun Pictures of Kalanithi Maaran, the movie was released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The opening day collection earned ₹11 crore in Tamil and ₹1.5 crore in Telugu languages, but the movie seems failed to create an impactful impression on the Hindi audience, as it has not received any notable collection from it.
According to Sacnilk data, Dhanush’s movie sold 4,36,704 tickets in advance booking and collected ₹6.15 crore. As a consequence, the movie surpassed Karnan’s day 1 collection of ₹10.40 crore. After breaking Karnan’s record, Raayan became Dhanush’s highest-earning movie on Day 1.

Notably, the 50th movie the actor released on his 41st birthday, and to make it special as an opening day, the makers hosted an extra show a total of 5 shows in Tamil Nadu with prior approval from the government. Even though the actor wanted the release to be less hyped-up, the grand opening had created a huge buzz among the audience.
With a compelling storyline and an exceptional cast including Selvaraghavan, SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Kaalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Saravanan, and many others, the film has gained remarkable attention from the fans and the general audience.
