Rahet Fatah Ali Khan Beats Staff With Shoe, Singer Issues Clarification (image-twitter/rahatfatahalikhan)
Video of legendary Pakistan singer Rahat Fatah Ali Khan assaulting one of his staff member has gone viral on social media. Later the singer released a video with a clarification of his action.
On Saturday evening, a video of the legendary singer beating up his servant with a bottle was posted by senior journalist Ghulam Abbas Shah. Sharing the video, he wrote, “Famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan beating his servant for a bottle of alcohol”.
As the video went viral, many came criticizing the singer’s action. Indian playback singer Chinmaya Sripaada condemning the singer’s behavior, wrote on X, “Some of these people behave like such gentle, soft spoken souls in public, one would never think they’d be capable of such inhumane behaviour. If only cameras existed earlier – more of those we celebrate as so called greats would have been exposed for what they actually were to other people. Horrendous.”

In no time, Rahat released a video with a strange clarification of his action. In the video Khan explained that the man, his student, had made an error and was consequently disciplined, but an apology was also extended to him.

The victim, further said that he was punished for losing a bottle of ‘dam kiya huwa pani (holy water). He also supported his Ustad saying that those creating controversy over the video are trying to tarnish Khan’s reputation.
He further added that there was nothing inappropriate about a father figure disciplining his son. “Ustad ji came and apologised to me. He is my father, murshid, guru and there is nothing wrong in a father punishing his son. Creating a controversy over this video is a way of blackmailing my ustad,” he said.
