On Thursday, a woman made serious allegations against a female actor in the Malayalam film industry, accusing her of running a sex racket. The female actor is currently a complainant in separate rape and sexual harassment case involving high-profile figures in the industry.

The woman, a relative of the actor, alleged in a video statement that she was taken to Chennai under the guise of a film audition, where she was presented to several individuals for sexual favours. She further claimed that she was a minor at the time of the incident.

Responding to the allegations, the accused actor strongly denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the accusations are baseless and motivated by a personal dispute. She claimed that the woman owed her money and that the allegations were an attempt to distract from her complaint against the high-profile actors.

A complaint has been lodged against the actor with the state police chief. Reportedly, the complaint will be forwarded to the special investigation team (SIT) which is currently probing the cases related to sexual harassment and assault in the film industry.

Following the partial release of the Hema Committee Report, the presence of casting couch and other forms of exploitation prevailing in the industry came to surface. Several actresses, junior artists and more came forward and filed complaints alleging sexual harassment against prominent film personalities, including AMMA chiefs, actors, and filmmakers, among others.

The Kerala High Court constituted a special five-member bench comprising of all female judges to hear the cases connected to the report.
