
Son Of Sardaar 2 Hits Theatres Today: Ajay Devgn Returns With A Laugh Riot
The much-awaited comedy entertainer Son of Sardaar 2 hits theatres nationwide today. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film marks the return of Ajay Devgn as the ever-spirited Jassi Singh Randhawa in a new standalone sequel to the 2012 blockbuster Son of Sardaar.
Also starring Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, and Neeru Bajwa, this sequel brings a fresh twist as Jassi pretends to be a war hero to help a young couple win over their families.
Shot across stunning locations in Edinburgh, London, and Punjab, Son of Sardaar 2 promises a laugh riot packed with emotional heartbeats and chartbuster tracks like “Pehla Tu Duja Tu” and the recreated “The Po Po Song.”
This film is set to be a full-on Punjabi-flavoured spectacle. Produced by Ajay Devgn and team, it’s now playing in cinemas across India.
Cinematography is helmed by Aseem Bajaj, capturing everything from the misty highlands of Edinburgh to the bustling streets of Chandigarh with flair. Ninad Khanolkar takes charge of the film’s editing.

Principal photography began in July 2024 and took place across Edinburgh, London, the Firth of Forth, and Punjab, India. The shoot spanned over 50 days in the UK and included scenic and cultural backdrops that play into the film’s narrative. Actress Kubbra Sait completed dubbing for her role in April 2025, indicating post-production was well underway by then.
Initially slated to release on 25 July 2025, the film was officially released on 1 August 2025.
The film’s soundtrack, released under T-Series on 18 July 2025, features a dynamic blend of contemporary beats, Punjabi folk, and party anthems. Composers include Jaani, Tanishk Bagchi, Harsh Upadhyay, Lijo George – DJ Chetas, Tejwant Kittu, Jay Mavani, and Sunny Vik. The background score is composed by Amar Mohile and Salil Amrute.

Ajay Devgn is the only returning lead from the original Son of Sardaar (2012). Sanjay Dutt, who was originally set to reprise his role, missed the UK shoot due to visa issues but confirmed that he is still part of the film in a limited capacity. Vijay Raaz was reportedly signed but later exited the project.
The film marks a posthumous release for actor Mukul Dev, who passed away during the film’s production, making his appearance a touching tribute for fans.
