Tamil actor Daniel Balaji died of heart attack at a private hospital in Chennai last night. He was undergoing a treatment at the time of death, said media report. The 48-year-old actor was rushed to the hospital after he complained about chest pain.
Balaji started off as a manager of production unit in Kamal Hassan’s Marudhanayagam. He worked in TV serials like Radhika Sarathkumar’s ‘Chithhi’, in which his screen name Daniel Balaji.
Balaji played notable roles in films like Kakka Kakka, and Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. He also worked in Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada movies. his debut into Tamil film was in 2022 film April Madathil.
He played along side Surya in Gautham Menon’s Khaka Khaka. He played Amudhan alongside Kamal Hassan in Vettaiyadu Vilaiyaadu. Danel Balaji was last seen in Ariyavan helmed by Mithran R Jawahar in 2023.
Balaji shared screens with several Tamil superstars. He appeared in Ajith’s Yennai Arindhal, Sinbu’s Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, Vijay’s Bairavaa, Bigil, and Dhanush’s Vada Chennai.
Film director Mohan Raja paid condolence on Balaji’s death. Taking to his X (formerly twitter), Raja said Balaji was his inspiration to join film institute, and was a good friend.
