The Hema Committee Report has created a storm in the Malayalam film industry and has sent shock waves to the public. It also resulted in the shocking revelations from the Kollywood as well. The Nadigar Sangam of Tamil cinema has passed a resolution to form a committee to look on to the women’s safety in the Industry.

Since the release of the Hema Committee report, n number of accusations have been flooding Mollywood, bringing out the true faces of many actors despite their prominence. And with the recent development, complaints over the Kollywood stars have also been lodged. Moreover, Kollywood female stars have also stirred social media response to the sexual allegation.

Responding to the resounding echoes, the South Indian Artistes’ Association (SIAA) (Nadigar Sangam) has passed a resolution to ban perpetrators of sex offenses from the Tamil film industry for a period of five years.

Several resolutions were passed by Nadigar Sangam and its Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC) in the meeting held on Wednesday in Chennai in the presence of actor Nasser, the president of Nadigar Sangam, and actor Vishal, the general secretary.

As per the report by India Today, the committee has asked victims to report their complaints through an existing dedicated phone number or a newly created email ID. The committee has promised to provide legal assistance to pursue complaints and has asked its members to directly approach the committee instead of reaching out to the media. Moreover, the GSICC is also set to be monitored by the Nadigar Sangam.

The committee has also expressed its full support to people who wish to take up cybercrime complaints against objectionable or derogatory content aired by YouTube channels against actors and their families.

The Nadigar Sangam has also planned to form a committee in 10 days in this regard and it was informed that the procedures for the committee formations were completed. The official announcement on this is expected to be made soon. Moreover, actor Vishal has also warned women to be cautious and said “There are men in Tamil cinema who approach women with bad demands without any respect for them. Women should be careful.” said Vishal as quoted by Mathrubhumi
