
"Team Empuraan And I Regret...": Mohanlal's Apology After Right-Wing Fury
After L2: Empuraan, the celebrated Lucifer’s sequel, sparked outrage by right wing groups over its subtle depiction of the Gujarat riot, actor Mohanlal today expressed his apology.
In a Facebook post, the actor said that he learned that some of the political and social themes that have been introduced in the making of the film”Empuraan” have caused great distress to many of his loved ones. “As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that none of my films are hostile to any political movement, ideology or religious sect,” the actor said, adding that he and the Empuraan team have regret the distress caused.

“With the realisation that the responsibility for it lies with all of us who worked on the film, We have decided together to remove such themes from the film,” the actor said.
“I have led my film life as one among you for the past four decades, and your love and trust is my only strength,” Mohanlal added.

Director Prithviraj Sukumaran has also shared the Apology posted by Mohanlal in his social media platforms.
The film’s references to the Gujarat riot have sparked furry among right-wing groups. The state BJP chief Rajeev Chandrashekhar, though initially taking a balanced stance, later took a youth turn, stating he would not watch the movie. He also expressed his disappointment over” such movie making”.
