The Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Thamma continued its box office run on its third day, showing a sharp drop in collections after a promising opening.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned around ₹4.43 crore (India net) across all languages on Thursday, taking its three-day total to ₹47.03 crore.

After collecting an impressive ₹24 crore on its opening day and ₹18.6 crore on Day 2, the Diwali release witnessed a steep decline of nearly 75% on its third day. While this dip is significant, it is not uncommon for big holiday releases that open midweek, as initial curiosity settles after the festive rush.

On Thursday, Thamma recorded an overall 13.44% Hindi occupancy, with morning shows registering around 7.52% and afternoon shows peaking at 19.35%. Major cities like Mumbai (15%), Ahmedabad (19.5%), and Chennai (19%) reported relatively better performance compared to regions like Chandigarh (7.5%) and Bhopal (7.5%).

In the Telugu version, the film maintained a 9.05% occupancy, with Hyderabad and Bengaluru contributing the bulk of the numbers.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films, Thamma is the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, and Varun Dhawan in pivotal roles.

The story revolves around Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana), a timid journalist who encounters a mysterious woman named Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna).

Their meeting draws him into a supernatural world of vampires, where an ancient evil named Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) threatens humanity. Through a series of mystical battles, Alok transforms into a vampire-like creature called Betal, ultimately becoming the new Thamma—leader of the Betals—setting the stage for the next chapter in the universe.

Filming began in December 2024 and took place across Delhi, Mumbai, and Ooty, wrapping up by mid-2025. The film’s music is composed by Sachin–Jigar, with songs like “Tum Mere Na Huye”, “Dilbar Ki Aankhon Ka”, and “Poison Baby” adding a lively edge to the supernatural narrative.

Despite the divided critical response, performances by Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui have been widely noted, with particular praise for the chemistry between the leads and Siddiqui’s flamboyant villainy.
